The "lion and the lamb shall lay down together" is a quote derived from an ancient prophecy that refers to a utopian age on earth - a Golden Age known as 'The Millennium'. Although many believe the phrase,"lion and the lamb shall lay down together," comes from the bible, it does not. Artists have been painting these two contrasting creatures (the lion and the lamb) for centuries. There are many interpretations of this intriguing theme. Perhaps the most popular is the utopian concept known as, "Paradise Restored," -an age on earth where there will be no death, sorrow, pain or sickness. Feel free to choose your own interpretation!

love this. Actually the lion will lie with the calf and the wolf with the lamb as in the stated in Isaiah 11:6-9 . The story of the lion and lamb became popular due to an early famous painting depitcting this, so everything thinks it came from the Bible, but actually got started because of a painting. Great gallery.

The Lion and the Lamb were painted by artist Edward Hicks and others which became popular art; the art work became known around the world, so people mistakenly confused the art with Bible prophecy. The Bible prophecy said the Lion will lie down with the calf, the Leopard will lie with the goat , and the wolf shall lie with the lamb.Isiah, Revelation, and Phillipians all state the real prophecy. Beautiful image based on art work, not scripture.
