I spent some time in Broken Hill recently and was amazed when I visited Pro Hart's gallery museum in Broken Hill. Just amazing. A beautiful old Rolls Royce car owned and painted by Pro Hart.
I captured this image in Broken Hill in the Pro Hart Broken Hill Gallery, Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia.
The one I have attached here really caught my attention with his nature painting on this lovely old Rolls Royce.
His work was a wonder to see - just loved it all.
We were permitted to capture / photograph the cars and other images outside but not the images inside the gallery. This one was outside and permitted. A beautiful Rolls Royce, silver shadow, painted by Pro Hart.
This is one of several of Pro Hart's vehicles in the grounds of the Pro Hart Gallery.
Worth a visit if you ever visit Broken Hill.
There were around 3 levels of his amazing paintings inside. We were unable to take photographs inside the gallery, but had full permission to take outside photography of all his cars, etc.

At the Pro Hart Gallery you can enjoy browsing Pro's work, purchase gifts and learn a little more about one of Australia's most iconic and enduring artists. Pro Hart was an artist across many forms. From drawing and sketching to the famed landscapes and narrative paintings of his heyday, Pro was energized by all forms of creativity. He was a performance artist who experimented endlessly with new forms of expression, a sculptor who loved metal and stone and an inventor extraordinaire who loved tinkering in his back shed.
Artisan, painter, collector, father, friend and husband, Pro Hart's life was a massive contribution to all those around him.
Enjoy the spirit of the Outback - wherever you live! Pro Hart's art captures the lush colors, the sense of space and the spiritual quality of the Outback in ways very few artists are able to emulate.
Kevin Charles "Pro" Hart, MBE (30 May 1928 – 28 March 2006), was an Australian artist, born in Broken Hill, New South Wales, who was considered the father of the Australian Outback painting movement and his works are widely admired for capturing the true spirit of the outback. He grew up on his family's sheep farm in Menindee, New South Wales and was nicknamed "Professor" (hence "Pro") during his younger days, when he was known as an inventor.
He collected vintage cars and motor cycles, and invented many kinds of engines and machines. He enjoyed pistol shooting, reading the Bible, and organ music. He was the proud owner of a Rodgers electric pipe organ, which was said to be the largest of its kind in Australia.[9] This was installed in his gallery, a step which considerably enhanced its value as a Broken Hill tourist attraction
Hart typically painted with oils or acrylics, using paint brushes and sponges, and depict scenes of rural town life, nature, topical commentary, and some religious subjects.
He was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire in 1976. In 1982 he received an Honorary Life Membership of Society International Martinique for outstanding artistic achievement. He received an Australian Citizen of the Year award in 1983, and was known for his charitable work and generosity.[citation needed]
Final years
Pro Hart developed motor neurone disease. He died on 28 March 2006. He had been unable to paint for the last six months of his life. A large state funeral was held for him on 4 April 2006 in Broken Hill — the first state funeral in New South Wales to be held west of the Blue Mountains.[citation needed]
He was interred in the Broken Hill cemetery.
