Description
A photograph I captured near my home in the north of Sydney, NSW, Australia of a vibrant yellow Wattle tree. There were flowers of red, blue and orange in the close foreground which created a lovely soft hue, which formed a dreamy blurred bokeh of foreground blooms which adds nice additional color to the image.
Vibrant yellow blooms dominate the scene, surrounded by soft hues of blue and orange in a dreamy, blurred effect. The composition evokes a sense of warmth and energy, highlighting the intricate details of the flowers.
The genus Acacia belongs to the family Mimosaceae. There are some 1350 species of Acacia found throughout the world and close to 1000 of these are to be found in Australia. Commonly known as Wattle, Acacia is the largest genus of vascular plants in Australia
The wattle tree is native to Australia. Specifically, the Golden Wattle (Acacia pycnantha) is Australia's national floral emblem and is a native species. While there are over 1,000 species of wattle trees (Acacia genus) in Australia, many are endemic, meaning they only occur in Australia.
But wattles are not exclusive to Australia. There are around 1350 species of Acacia found throughout the world, in Australia, Africa, throughout the Asia-Pacific region and in the Americas. However, our claim to wattles is not in vain, as Australia is home to close to 1000 of these species.
