This tiny Angel Face flower measures only around 2cm across and grows on a small plant with many blooms in the summer. Its botanical name is Angelonia angustifolia, which I believe is part of the Snapdragon family.
BUT, this image is different to all the other Angel Face flower images I have seen on the internet, and also on the plant from which I captured this image. My image has 7 petals, instead of the normal 5, and has 3 stamen (the white and green parts) instead of the normal one stamen. I picked this flower and still have it in water. I would like to do more research on this as to whether this is a common occurrence to have the 3 stamen and extra petals.
